We have been working hard making some Daffodil artwork for the Spring Celebration assembly next week.  We are learning the poem Daffodils by William Wordsworth too.

The first piece of art we are creating is a whole class collage.  The team work going into making this piece of art has been great!

Mr McIntosh came for a sneak preview of our work.

We have each created an invitation for the Victorian Afternoon Tea Party.  We will judge the one we like the best and send it out to families soon.

Our reading skills have focused on reading and creating Limerick poems.  We explored syllables and rhyme within this topic.

We learned more about Edward Lear, who was a well known writer from the Victorian Era, and his funny Limerick poems.  We used a website to create a whole class limerick, then went into our table groups to create a group Limerick.

Here are some of the finished group limerick poems.

In class PE we have been learning about throwing and catching.  We have used large balls to practise our bounce and chest passes.

Today we used tennis balls to practise our accuracy in throwing and catching.

We decided that a good throw helps to make a good catch.

We had a class competition to see which pair could pass the ball the most times without dropping it.

Coleen and Anna won the competition.

We will continue to practise this skill and it will hopefully help us when playing games involving throwing and catching.

Rounders was a good examples of when these skills were needed.  We played this last week with P4 and realised that we needed to improve our throwing and catching skills.  When the weather gets better again we will have another go at rounders.
