Mid Week Update

Please note that the children took home information about our class trip next Tuesday.  We are heading through to the Kirkwall museum to work with Janette Park on Victorian Orkney.
This will take place between break and lunch.  The children will need a packed lunch - this will be eaten at school as we will not get back in time for school dinners.

Only return the form if you DO NOT want your child to attend the trip.

Active Spelling

Each week we find an active way to practise our spelling.  This week we have been cutting the letters out of magazines and newspapers and building our spelling words.

Team Building

We have been learning about different roles within a team.  We know that to make a team work, each person needs to be involved and have a certain job to do. We practised this skill within a game of 'pass the ball' today during class PE time.  We combined some of the rules of netball and basketball and worked together as a team to score goals.  Each team member could only go on a certain part of the court.  This meant that we HAD to pass to each other in order to score a goal.  We worked well together and each team scored a few goals.

During our plenary discussion we realised that without certain jobs to do, everyone would have tried to get the ball and score a goal as it is the 'best job'.  We decided that for a team to work, we can't always want to be the person who does the best job.  We need to support each other by doing all the little jobs so we can be successful in the end.

Victorian House Building

Today we made a start on our Victorian house models.  We split into teams.  One group are working on the lower class house while the other two teams are working on the upper class house.  We needed two teams for this job as the upper class houses were so big, with many rooms.

We have used up most of our junk materials already so it would be great if we could get some more.  If you have any junk please feel free to pop it into P5.
