Week 2

Writing

Today we made a start on planning and preparing our character and settings for our story writing.  We are going to be writing a story with a circular structure.  This means the story starts of with a normal everyday event, a problem or twist occurs, a resolution is found and normality resumes.  

We thought some well known stories such as 'The 3 Little Pigs', 'Cinderella' and 'Finding Nemo' and discovered that this structure is very common in story writing.  

Here we are completing our character and setting plans.

We continued with our research about Queen Victoria this afternoon.

We were learning about how you become King or Queen and found out that to be in line for the throne you had to be the eldest child of the current King or Queen.  We looked at the current Royal Family too and worked out who will be our future kings or queens.  

Project

We made a start on Queen Victoria's family tree, starting with herself and Prince Albert.  We tracked the first born sons or daughters right down to Queen Elizabeth II and then made a start filling in the rest of the information.  We will continue with this throughout the week.

Homework:  I also set an optional homework task this week to have a go at creating your own family tree. Pupils can present their family tree however they wish.
