We were developing our typing skills today.  We accessed the BBC Dance Mat Typing Website which helps us to learn and practise touch typing.

We were focusing on the home row (asdfghjkl;) and making sure we kept our fingers in the correct position.  This was quite tricky for some of us but we are going to keep on trying to get it right.

We were also learning how to navigate an atlas today by using the index pages and the information they give to find countries.  We were using this skill while learning about The British Empire in Victorian times.

We found out that Queen Victoria took over many countries in the world to support trade links.  At one point she rules over one quarter of the worlds population.

We were adding the names of the countries in the British Empire to our large world map.  On Wednesday we will be learning about the products which were bought in from other countries.
