Primary 4/3 have been making Dreamcatchers this week.

Several members of the class (including Mrs Miller!) have been talking about
nightmares and scary dreams in our group discussion. We spoke about why
we sometimes have bad dreams - maybe we are anxious; maybe we've been
eating cheese before bed time(!) - and we thought of ways of trying to
help.

Someone had the idea of making Dreamcatchers.
Some of the class  already knew about these and were not sure that they work.
But we decided to give it a try as "Team 4/3"!!!

We found out that the idea of Dreamcatchers first came from the Native Americans.

Our teacher "Googled" it in class and we read the
"Legend of the Dreamcatcher"
together.

We spoke about legends and how these are old stories which
have been passed down over the generations. Some may have bits of
truth in them but they can't always be true. Our legend had a talking
spider in it and we were pretty sure that bit was fiction, not fact!

We think we would like to learn about other legends from other places.
We thought it might be interesting as next steps, to find out about
legends from Orkney too so if anyone out there has any they would like
to share, please let us know.

Some of us found it fiddly to tie the
yarn as we made these but Aaron and Jay were excellent at helping
others out and we really did work well as a team and had fun.

We hope these Dreamcatchers help us with our scary dreams but we really do
think Mrs Miller should stop eating cheese and biscuits before bed
time!
