Neolithic artefacts
A ranger from Historic Scotland came in to talk to use about what people used in the Neolithic times. Orkney is rich in archaeology and we got to hold some recreations of the original finds. Can you guess what they were used for? (answers below.....)

Did you guess correctly?
A- a stone carved with sharp edge. Used to clean animal skins of muscle and blood.
B- Clothes pin. People did not use buttons or zips in those day (they hadn't been invented) so they pinned their clothes together.
C- Flint. Used to cut all sorts of things.
D- Shapes and designs found in Orkney dating back to Neolithic period.
E- The Westray Wife.
F- Even Neolithic people liked to look their best. They wore necklaces like this one, made from bone and animal teeth.
