Troot in the Shed

'Release of the Fry!'

Our Troot in the Shed project came to its conclusion yesterday.  Along with Malcolm Thomson, we went out the burn and release our peedie troot fry into the wild.  We knew it was time as the Alevins had lost their yolk sacs and now needed food from the burn to survive.

We released them into a calm area of the burn to give them the best chance of survival.  We all had a go at setting some free.

Heading off to the burn

Listening to Mr Thomson explaining what we were going to do

Getting into position

Mr Thomson taking the fry from the tank and putting them into small cups for us

Setting them free!!!!

A cup full of fry!

Helping each other out by passing the cup over

Making sure they all went in to the burn

 The last few...

 All done...
Mr Thomson then had a look to see what was in the burn for the fry to eat....he scooped up a small sample

There wasn't a huge amount to see but we did find a few goodies for them to munch on

Thank you to Mr Thomson and Mr MacLeod for helping us with our project.
