A catch up...

Sorry, I've been a bit slow in getting some blog posts up recently!

Here is a whistle stop tour of what has been going on in P6 and around the school in the last few weeks.

Mr McIntosh and Mrs Aberdein demonstrated their dances for the Strictly Come Dancing Competition.

In project we were learning about Tartan and we decided to try and make our own family tartans.  It involved some weaving and we got a lot of nice modern designs.

We were having a go at using french language in context so we wrote some weather reports.  Videos in post below.

Our fish eggs have turned into Alevin - this is when the yolk of the egg is still attached to its body acting as a food source.  It won't be long before we have to release them into the burn.

Hockey has been our focus in class PE this term - we have been learning a lot of new skills (not specific to hockey, but ones we can transfer into other sports/games).
Below - we are learning the rules to 2 new games and we had to practise the rules before teaching it to the other team.  This was challenging as we had to think of all the important information when demonstrating the game.  Good fun though!

Here we are teaching the other groups.
We visited P7's Book Fair - lots of good books to be seen and lots of orders placed.  P7 sold about £1000 worth of books during the week so we should be able to buy lots of new books for our library with the commission money.

In maths we were exploring 2D and 3D shapes - here Daniel and Zach are puzzling over how to make the net of a 20 sided shape.  (isocahedron)  Very challenging!
Aaron made a 12 sided shape - dodecahedron - using a printed net.

Finally - we dressed up as our favourite book characters for World Book Day last Thursday.  Lots of great costumes!
